This interpretation might cheapen the struggles the characters go through, but we sort of know from prophesies and Min's viewings and future-ter'angreal that the world isn't going to end. It may be that the 7 ages were separated out due to 7 particularly bad incursions on the wheel of time. ![]() The creator isn't all powerful, and cannot really get rid of the taint of Shaitan, because it touched at every point in the pattern. Shaitan is some foreign element not of this world but he cannot get out because the Creator is stronger than him, and paying attention. The fact that people are Ta'veren and Seers and Foretellers are a sign that the Creator is exerting his will on the world. The of this excercise, and something we may not understand is that the Creator is watching over. so every time it skips, you nudge the machine a bit and put the needle back where it needs to be and the song keeps on going. You could start all over, and buy a new record, but you like this one. You expend a great deal of effort in bridging the gaps, but parts of the songs are forever changed. We're talking a laboratory grade acid that eats into a bit of the disc at several points where it touched. But an unexpected force interacts with your perfect song and ruins the disc. You are the Creator and have set this up. ![]() When the record is done, the player is programmed to start back at the first song until the power is gone. Each of the seven songs is amazing, intricate and flows into the next almost seamlessly. For reasons that will become apparent, I want you to think of this as a very complex LP Record with seven ABBA Songs on it. Here's how i see it: The creator made a perfect Wheel of time- the universe. There was only one Last Battle, the one we read about, projected from some point outside time into the Pattern a hundred thousand billion times over. That Last Battle, the point where Rand and the Dark One had a discussion wasn't just Rand, it was every Dragon, the same Dragon, doing the same thing across all of history. The Dark One and the Creator exist in some dimension beyond our 4, and to them, interacting or touching multiple points in time is just as easy for them as it is for the apple to appear inside a closed house in Flatland. This is part of the reason why, when you travel at speeds approaching some fraction of the speed of light in some other direction (say 'forward'), your velocity decreases along the 'forward in time' vector, and time passes more rapidly for people on Earth than you, so when you land, it's been 6 months for you, but 300 years back home.īut back to the "outside time" thing. The sum of the speed of our movement in all the dimensions (up/down, left/right, back/forward, and time) is close enough for these purposes to say it's c, the speed of light. We're all traveling through all dimensions at roughly the same fixed speed (the speed of light!). Here's some physics: Time is a fourth dimension. Have you ever seen Carl Sagan explain multiple dimensions with his Flatland example? Those poor flatlanders have no idea or concept of what three dimensions look like, or how they work, or the rules, or anything about them. etc.īut the Dark One (and the Creator) exist outside of time. It seems like a losing battle, an infinite series of conflicts where the Light must win or all is lost, etc. Lews Therin came before Rand, and Rand came before whomever happened along next, and so on, from the first turning of the wheel to the last.įrom that perspective, your question is natural. ![]() Events happen, then other things happen, and so forth. ![]() This one is a really hard one to grok, we think of Time as being linear because that's the only way we know how to experience it.
